Bartels Farms is one of the largest organic beef processors in the United States. Our products are produced locally in the Willamette Valley, but sold throughout the United States.

Bartels Farms purchases organic cattle from farms and ranches in 7 western states. All cattle come from farms/ranches that are Certified Organic and meet the stringent standards set forth by the National Organic Program (NOP), a marketing program within the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS). Under this Program, any product labeled USDA Organic must meet specific requirements that must be verified by a USDA-accredited certifying agent.

The (USDA) organic seal verifies that producers provide living conditions that accommodate the natural behavior of the animals, including year-round access to the outdoors. The seal also certifies the producer uses organically certified feed and does not use chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides, artificial hormones and antibiotics.

Bartels Farms is Oregon Tilth Certified Organic (OTCO) at both the harvest and processing facilities and has maintained Organic Certification since 2007. OTCO is an internationally recognized standard of organic integrity seal that combines strict production standards, on-site inspections and legally binding contracts to protect both the producer and buyer of organic products.

To qualify for OTCO Certification, Bartels Farms must pass a rigorous animal handling and welfare audit and have both processing facilities inspected to ensure that organic processing standards are being met that include proper segregation of organic cattle, products and ingredients; stringent recordkeeping; and approved labeling of organic product. Producing under an Organic Certificate requires that every aspect of our operation meet or exceed the gold standard of exclusively using organically approved compounds in our harvesting, sanitizing and processing operations in order to comply with NOP regulations and ensure organic integrity of our product.
